A teacher's attitude toward scholarship plays a huge role in helping students learn to value difficult academic work. Students recognize when a teacher has a passion for his or her field, is eager to learn new things, and brings genuine questions into the classroom for them to explore as partners. Even when teachers are not experts in a particular field, the way they react will send a powerful message to kids about the value of curiosity, hard work, and lifelong learning.
